Carlisle International Women’s Group (CIWG)

Carlisle International Women’s Group (CIWG) has been holding regular coffee mornings and get togethers for international and internationally minded women living in the Carlisle area since 2013. It has worked in partnership over the years with other local groups including Multicultural Cumbria, Pride in North Cumbria and Woman Up.

Highlights to date have been International Women’s Day lunches and other events on or around 8th March each year, a countywide day long Zoom event to mark IWD 2021 with women from all over Cumbria, walks, bike rides, dance sessions and other trips to promote healthy living and appreciate local beauty spots, support, friendship, a Facebook group and much more! In 2024 a very special Open Mic night was held to mark IWD with over 110 women from all over the world and performances of music, song and poetry.

Refugee women living in the area and supported by Carlisle Refugee Action Group are encouraged to take part in the activities, as are others who are new to the area or feeling isolated.
