Since the launch of the theme year at our tea party in The Tithe Barn in September 2024 several activities have taken place under the Bridging Faith Communities theme year.

The COWC AGM on 24th October was presented with a plan for the year following a talk by Mohammed Dhalech on his multifaith work. The talk can be viewed here.

On 9th November, over 30 members of the local community took part in Carlisle’s first faith walk around the city centre, covering churches, the Cathedral, Carlisle Mosque, the Quaker Meeting House and ending at the Uma Kadampa Buddist Centre for tea and coffee. The energy and interest by participants and hosts was inspiring and it was a really interesting afternoon, enjoyed by all concerned. We are planning our next walk for Saturday 10th May from 2-5pm. Save the date!

On 24th November, COWC hosted a shared meal to mark the end of Inter Faith Week 2024. As well as enjoying delicious food with the High Sheriff of Cumbria, Chris Holmes, participants were invited to make a decoration for COWC’s Christmas tree as part of the first Christmas Tree festival at Carlisle Cathedral in December.

In February we interviewed Georgia May from the Rose Castle Foundation and will be sharing that video in the next few weeks.
We are currently planning more talks and events and editing our new Carlisle Faith Directory.

Most of the above has been funded by a grant from Cumberland Council through the Carlisle West Community Panel.
